Surf Artist Phil Roberts- How to Draw a Wave
May 1st, 2009 by Sarah BurlinghamArtist Phil Roberts is best known in the surf industry for creating some of the most memorable paintings and illustrations of surf spots and surf personalities. Phil is truly an expert on drawing waves. His scientific illustrations of how waves work from Drew Kampion’s “Book of Waves” have been published in Grolliers Encyclopedia and National Geographic Explorer. A lesser-known fact is that Roberts sculpted the Pipeline Masters trophy, a legendary rendition of Gerry Lopez at Pipe, cast in bronze. Needless to say this guy knows waves.

Here are some helpful hints from Phil Roberts on drawing a wave.
