Quiksilver Travel Blogs from Nicaragua

Quiksilver Travel helps people plan surf trips to some of the most remote and exotic locations in the word; Indonesia, the South Pacific, Costa Rica, and more. We asked one of our regular Quiksilver Travel customers if he would be into sharing some of the experiences from his upcoming trip to Nicaragua. His name is Mike Jensen, and for the next week he’ll be surfing Nicaragua instead of sitting at work. Check back for updates throughout the trip…

My name is Mike Jensen and here is little about me.  I live in Kirkland Washington after spending ten years in San Francisco California surfing Ocean Beach.  Before moving to San Francisco I lived a year in Costa Rica and Maui and the mid day winds often blew out the surf.  That is big reason why I have always wanted to go to Nicaragua. With the offshore winds and lots of lefts I hope it will allow us to get more surf time.  Several of my friends have been to Nica and scored amazing barrels and chill afternoons on the beach which is what I need out of a surf trip right now.  I will be bringing a 6’4″ Channel Island Rookie shortboard and 6’8″ for the larger days.  I am also packing a shorty wetsuit, new waterproof camera, Flip Video Camera and my computer so I can stay in contact with my work.

My crew on this trip is Alex Spence a goofy footer from San Francisco who you can find on most Thursday at Ace Wasabi’s seducing the hottest women in San Francisco.  Jeff Thomas with SoCal roots will join us as well. He recently got back from several weeks surfing the North Shore of Oahu so I’m sure he will be killing it.  All of us are in our thirties are geeking out about the chance to score warm water barrels.  I leave on May 22nd on the red eye.
