Quiksilver and the Summit Series Community are Partnering with The Nature Conservancy

Last spring, CEO Bob McKnight and the Quiksilver family attended Summit at Sea, a three-day business conference hosted by Summit Series. Held aboard an oceanliner, Summit at Sea set sail to the Bahamas and dropped anchor in the South Berry Islands. The event and setting had such a profound affect on us that we’ve been dreaming up a way to give back to this beautiful place ever since.

Turns out, twenty miles from where the ship anchored, there’s a sanctuary that needs help. It’s one of the most ecologically diverse areas in the Bahamas and was named a marine protected area (MPA) a decade ago. The thing is, it’s a sanctuary only in name. This fragile ecosystem needs to be preserved, but currently there is no infrastructure, not a single enforcement officer, and therefore no protection.

The Quiksilver and the Summit Series community is partnering with The Nature Conservancy to raise $500,000 to make the MPA a reality. We’ve already raised more than $470,000 and now we’re turning to the most passionate ocean-lovers we know–YOU–to help us hit our goal.
