Julian Wilson’s anticipated world premiere of his new film “Scratching the Surface” took place at the Samueli Theater in Costa Mesa Friday night, August 6th. A crowd of over 700 people including the “who’s who” in surfing like Taj Burrows, Andy and bruce Irons, Dane Reynolds Kelly Slater and many more caught the EPIC footage of Julian’s travels around the world in his first ever feature film. Spectators were offered a musical snack when 80’s cover band the Spazmatics took the stage and were able to sip on Red Bull cocktails all night. Julian took out several ads inviting fans to attend the premiere. They starting arriving at Noon, patiently waiting outside the venue. Even though it was first-come first-serve, every one of the fans got in!
