thats it??? i seen GT ask more interesting questions in the web stream of the contests and he really sucks.. you had arguably the best athelete in the workd and thats the interview??? thats because you think surfing is for little kids and beach boy listning ho dads.. when is espn going to wake up and realize that surfing takes more physical mental slkill and competetive desire than any other sport on the planet?? thats why fuel TV is a more realtive sports channell for this generation.. get with the time espn before the time passes you by even more than it has already.. you’ll be forever doing “did a rod take steroids” shows and get no ratings.

Glad to see ESPN giving some air time to surfing. It is hard to believe that they don’t cover more of this sport. I’m always impressed when traveling in Australia how the ASP World Tour is regularly mentioned on their local news channels. I would think that ESPN would do more to highlight this sport. If this interview was shot at the ESPN studios here in CT, I am bummed that I didn’t know that Kelly was in town (I live about 30min from the ESPN headquarters).

Kelly i missed the interview but i heard you give them a ear full…. i’m proud you fill so passionate about what you do and not the crowning achievement the sport has gave you this is something ESPN should have been on top of from day one! sometime spectacular isn’t about the athletes them selves just the sport and all its glory@Phoenix.

Clearly Florida’s Space Coast biggest celebrity, awesome to see how unarguablly the sport with the highest “cool factor” has reached such high national media attention. Although hard to televise, all appreciate the art of the sport and the accomplishments of Kelly Slater. Best wishes to Kelly and the othet Space Coast star surf products, the Hobgoods. Kudos to ESPN for taking a few minutes to talk on air to one of the greatest athletes in his partiuclar sport, Slater = modern surfing.
The interview was done at the new ESPN offices in California.
I am stoked to see Kelly Slater get some air time on ESPN. And while the interview was brief, some surfing exposure on tv is better than none at all.
