Greg Long Comes From Behind to Win The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau Fueled by Monster Energy
December 8th, 2009 by Jamie TierneyGreg Long has just won his first ever Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau in incredbily dramatic fashion. The San Clemente, CA big wave surfer charged massive bombs that poured through the Waimea lineup the final heat and used all four of his final scoring waves, including a perfect 100 on by far the biggest wave of the day, to come from way behind to move past Kelly Slater. Chilean psycho Ramon Navarro also scored a perfect ride and won the Monster Drop Award, by making an incredible air drop backside and riding to the beach.
The awards ceremony is about to being. Stay tuned from much more from Waimea Bay.

Thank you, Quiksilver and Monster for such a professional broadcast. I watched the entire day from start to awards via webstream. The entire production was flawless. I can’t believe those announcers talked the entire day. How much did they get paid? Whatever it was they deserved more.
I’m used to watching http://www.coastalwatch.com/templates/default.aspx webcam of Waimea Bay. It’s a terrible cam but the best I can find. This morning watching it I noticed a Quiksilver flag on the beach. I thought, what the heck’s that doing there? So I googled Quiksilver and discovered the surfing event was being streamed LIVE! OH, this was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on the net!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t leave the computer all day.
I sure hope you can provide more livestreaming of all your events. It doesn’t have to be as professional as today. Screw the media corporations and deliver directly to the People!
