Destination: Spring Break, Southern California

From Santa Barbara down to the Mexico boarder, Southern California has plenty to offer besides celebrities and traffic jams. Don’t forget to stop by Surf City—Huntington Beach is home to Quiksilver’s headquarters.

Need some help planning? We have some suggestions…

1. San Onofre State Beach  (SLEEP)
San Mateo Campground is a short distance inland from the beach and Trestles, guaranteeing you’ll get up for dawn patrol. Be sure to reserve a campsite ahead of time. 830 Cristianitos Road, San Clemente, CA 92672; (949) 361-2531

2. Pedro’s Tacos  (EAT/DRINK)

4. Pike Restaurant & Bar (PARTY)
Owned by the former drummer of the punk band Social Distortion, the Pike features microbrews and awesome nightly live music featuring local bands and DJs (check the calendar). Long Beach; pikelongbeach.com

5. Hotel Erwin (SLEEP)
A laid-back spot to crash in Venice Beach, Hotel Erwin has an awesome rooftop lounge and is 200 feet from the sand. Venice; hotelerwin.com

6. Umami Burger (EAT/DRINK)
After you’ve had your fill of animal-style burgers at In-N-Out, stop by an outpost of Umami Burger for their signature burgers and cheesy tater tots.Multiple locations in LA and Orange County; umami.com

7. The Frog House (SHOP)
The water in California does get cold at times; pick up a wetsuit and some wax at The Frog House. Newport Beach; froghouse.com

8. The Sugar Shack Café  (EAT/DRINK)
This family-owned Surf City institution is the best breakfast spot by the beach. Get Keppler’s special or the raisin bread French toast. Huntington Beach; hbsugarshack.com

9. Sunny Spot  (EAT/DRINK, PARTY)
Nosh on sliders and jerk-spice wings during daily happy hours at this hotspot by Ray Choi (famous for his Kogi BBQ food truck). Venice; sunnyspotvenice.com

10. Pizzeria Mozza (EAT/DRINK)
This ain’t Spiccoli’s pizza…it’s all grown-up and even more delicious. Try the Pizza Bianca, and get the butterscotch budino for dessert. Newport Beach and Los Angeles; pizzeriamozza.com
