Cocoa Beach Unveils The Kelly Slater Statue

November 19, 2010

Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to say…..win the Eddie? How about the Pipe Masters a few times? What about a WCT….better yet 45 of ‘em? Now the big question; 10 World Titles? Well Kelly Slater has done every one of those and his home town of Cocoa Beach has honored their homegrown celebrity with a bigger than life bronze statue of Kelly’s trademark forehand snap! Amongst family and friends the city of Cocoa Beach unveiled the statue and have proclaimed November 17th “Kelly Slater Day.” If your passing through and are looking for this masterpiece you can find it located directly across from the town post office at the North fork in the road of the A1A in good ol downtown Cocoa Beach baby!
On top of all that the Governor Charlie Christ gave Kelly a proclamation ( A proclamation is a document given by the Mayor and Council to formally recognize an individual, an organization, a special event, an achievement, or cause).
Special thanks to artist Natasha Drazich for her amazing impression from a photo of Kelly riding one of his brother Sean’s board at the Inlet.
KS10…….the legacy continues.
