A Small Day at Teahupo’o
March 11th, 2010 by Matt RamirezBlakeney Sanford recently worked with Quiksilver at the World Premiere of the Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D Imax film featuring Kelly Slater to showcase her amazing art. In honor of “The Ultimate Wave”, A Small Day at Teahupo’o was created with the intention of giving the viewer the experience of being enveloped in an overhead barrel, a sculptural version of the magnificent Tahitian Wave, Teahup’o.
About the artist:
A Native of Santa Barbara County, Blakeney Sanford has found her newest niche; large scale sculptural installation. Recently inspired by time spent on the water, her latest body of work has included barreling waves, kelp pneumatocysts, and subjective portraits of moving surfers. These pieces have been created using Epoxy resin and fiberglass which allow her to experiment with shape and structure as well as color and transparency.
