Kelly and Tony in France

September 19, 2008 by Jamie Tierney

The greatest ever skater and surfer made a rare joint appearance today in France at the press conference for the Quiksilver Pro. Quik skate legend Tony Hawk flew here after the close of the Boom Boom Huck Jam to watch the world’s best compete at his second favorite sport, surfing. Tony will also headline an all-star skate demo at Hossegor square on Saturday night. The half pipe, shipped here from the States just for this event, is massive!

Kelly, meanwhile, is ready to make a run at his 9th world title. A win at this event, combined with early losses from Taj Burrow, Bede Durbidge and Mick Fanning, could clinch it for him. Think he’s feeling the pressure? Doesn’t seem like it. He was loose and relaxed while sharing a few laughs with old friend Tony.
