The angry peace sign is a symbol that has continually been incorporated into the warpaint print since day 1. Simon Buttonshaw, whether he invented it or not (see who invented warpaint), does have something to say about the angry peace sign.

Quotes from Simon Buttonshaw on the Angry peace sign:

-Why wouldn’t a peace sign be angry in today’s world?

-When I did this there was some hope things might change (the 1st Iraq War) – now I’m not so sure.

-When we look out at the ocean there is peace, when you look in at the land, from out the back, there is good cause for anger.

-A way of talking from the heart through symbols.

-Peace is destroyed by greed, which leads, inevitably to violence. Violence to the world we live in, violence to each other.

-On a deeper level- symbol is a yin yang- we always move from one to the other- when peace is at its peak, the seeds of violence begin to grow, and vice versa.

-Simon Buttonshaw
