• Each video must feature your shop staff and team riders
• Only shops that are authorized Quiksilver Wetsuit dealers may enter

The films will be screened on an outdoor 40ft screen in Tofino sometime in late June, specific location and date to be announced. Video’s will be judged by voting on the Quiksilver facebook page based on creativity, editing, quality of surfing and overall impact.

Earlier this fall, Quiksilver took six of their team riders to Nootka Sound, British Columbia  for the inaugural Quiksilver Cypher Film Challenge. Quiksilver’s concept divided the  surfers into three teams – Raph Bruhwiler and Nico Manos from Canada, Balaram Stack  and Billy Hopkins from the U.S.A., and Ramon Navarro and David Rutherford from Latin  America. Each team of surfers was paired with a filmer from their own region and then  tasked with completing a short film about the trip.   The crew scored some pretty heavy surf during their week up the coast. The three clips
are now complete with the results in, and are still live for viewing on the Quiksilver site  at Quiksilver.com/filmchallenge.

Congratulations to Ramon Navarro, David Rutherford and filmmaker Rodrigo Farias for  taking the win.  Additional coverage of the Cypher Film Challenge will appear in the  Spring 2011 issue of SBC Surf Magazine.  “I am more than happy to have been part of the 1st Cypher film Challenge, I think this  event has been one of the best things I’ve ever done and the experience that came with  it was some of the greatest ever. It is a real challenge out there.” Says David  Rutherford.  “It was an amazing experience in one of the most beautiful places in the world, I feel  stoked to be part of this project and hope we can get another one going soon.  Thanks  to Quiksilver and the Canadian crew for this great opportunity.”  Says Ramon Navarro.  “I couldn’t ever imagine winning this event, I think that the other 2 filmmakers are the  top ranked in the field especially with their recent intersection success.  It’s really  incredible when you receive all the support from your friends, family and all Latin-  American crew. Their support helped us win.”   Says Rodrigo Farias (Filmmaker).

“It’s exciting to have more riders of this caliber join the Quiksilver family. Will is one of the most progressive rail riders out of Quebec and I promise you will start to see an entire other side of him soon slaying parks and the backcountry,” says Oren Tanzer, Quiksilver Brand Manager for Snow. “Matt is one of my favorite riders to watch. His style is endless and he just makes things look so easy. Keep a close eye on our brothers to the north.”

Victoriaville, Quebec-native Lavigne rides wherever the snow is best and takes full advantage of the long urban winter in eastern Canada. He created video parts with Standard Films and Rome last season and was part of the winning Transworld Team Shoot Out team in 2009/10. This winter, the 22-year-old will be filming for Rome’s “The Shred Remains,” while following the weather and a whim on where to go and which contests to enter.

Belzile hails from Ottawa and now calls Whistler, BC home. His stylish spins including a backside 1260 crowd pleaser transition to backcountry booters and natural features. Belzile continues to evolve as a rider pushing the limits in every aspect of snowboarding.
