Retro Style Icon: Ali MacGraw

Ali MacGraw burst onto Hollywood’s radar in the 1969 film Goodbye, Columbus, but it was her role as a college student in the 1970 tear-jerker Love Story that really shot the New York actress to superstardom. While the movie will always have a special place in our hearts, so will MacGraw’s classic all-American wardrobe.  Over the years she’s become known for mixing preppy collegiate staples with bohemian pieces for a result that’s cool, effortless, and surprisingly easy to replicate with Quiksilver Women’s collections. See how Ali MacGraw is inspiring us here!

Ali’s cozy sweater above is perfect for fall. Although we can’t find an identical version these days, the Campfire Sweater comes about as close as you can get. Splashed with color jacquard print, it’s guaranteed to keep you warm and looking good during chilly days and nights.

For a modern take on Ali’s ’70s frock, try the printed Mermaid Dress. With a longer back helm and breezy sleeves, the vintage-inspired number is a great summer-to-fall transition piece.

You can never have too many stripes in your closet, and clearly we’re not the only ones who think so. Ali MacGraw keeps things simple in a classic nautical tank, much like the Eureka Stripe.
