Industry peeps and Encinitas town folk gathered in front of the La Paloma theatre the night of September 24th to view the long awaited story of pro shred and industry mogul, Todd Richards. “Me, Myself, and I” really paints the picture of Todd’s life, from his humble beginnings in Massachusetts, to his present life as a snowboarding industry icon and father of 2 kids, and everything in between. The anxious crowd was treated to a special glimpse into who Todd really is, and where he comes from.
As the credits rolled, and the crowd pulled themselves away from the drama on screen, the host was treated to a standing ovation.

So 8 years running and it was bound to happen. Although the rain, sleat and snow came out, everyone else came out in droves for the Mammoth West Coast Invitational Presented by Quiksilver, Vans, Red Bull, Snowboard Mag & Dragon. Dan Brisse claimed $10,000 for first and Mike Casanova took home $2500 for second.
The kids went crazy, despite the weather. Then hurded in to the gondola up to Canyon Lodge to check out Dialated Peoples!

The only thing crazier than the Unbound parks at Mammoth this season was the Quiksilver party for the Mammoth Mountain Unbound Park Crew at Whiskey Creek on Friday. Quiksilver’s been partnering with the Unbound Parks crew for some years now, and those guys do a damn good job. It started mellow… Some eats and drinks… Then the DJ came on and it was over 400 people packed. The likes of Quiksilver’s Austin Smith, Roxy’s Alexis Waite & Amber Stackhouse were tearing it up with Quiksilver TM Brian Craighill and Roxy TM Jessica Dalpiaz and a ton of Mammoth Mountain’s Park Crew, Employees and Retailers from the Mammoth area and California area.
Next thing we saw, the pool tables converted into stages for… Gogo dancers? Really? Weird… But it was all good! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their hangovers the next day @ the Quiksilver Cluck Off and Roxy Chicken Jam.
Props to the Unbound crew who keep the parks at Mammoth pristine and brilliant season, after bloody season!
The Quiksilver Cluck Off Mammoth Invite Only went down Saturday March 28th, with Greg Bretz collecting the $1k winner takes all!
8 Locals – Half Pipe/Half Hour Jam Session/ Half of $2000/Winner Takes All ($1000)
The Jam Session / 4 runs, kicked off @ 3:45pm, and ran through till 4:15, with the Mammoth Unbound Park crew running the riders up the side of the pipe after the lifts closed. The brainchild of Quiksilver’s Sean Keough and Brian Craighill, and Mammoth Mountain’s Oren Tanzer. The contest’s main deal is to give back to Mammoth by running a contest for Mammoth’s top 8 riders. This included Trevor Jacob, Luke Wynen, Spencer Whiting and Garrett Wynert from the Mammoth Junior Team, as well as Patrick Reddy and Tommy Czeshin. Another standout was six-year old Judd Henkes, who actually stuck an alley-oop above the lip.
The competition was hilariously Announced and Judged by Quiksilver’s Todd Richards, Mammoth Mountain’s Oren Tanzer and DC’s Sean Lake.
All in all it was good for everyone to cluck off and have a good time from the competitors to the Unbound crew and the contest organizers!
Much thanks to Oren Tanzer, the Unbound Crew and the whole Mammoth Mountain Crew for letting us put on the event. Thanks to the lovely ladies at Roxy, which this event was in conjunction with. Click here for the full coverage of the Roxy Chicken Jam.
