201 Mulberry mini-ramp contest photos

Monday, August 31st, 2009

201 Mulberry was host to the Quiksilver and Autumn LAND YOUR THOUGHTS mini-ramp contest on August 29th. Over 600 people packed the spot with a MacBookPro on the line for 1st place and $500 in cash up for grabs.

In the “15 and under” division, it was Andrew “Pedro” who took 1st Place and walked away with a grip of gear from Autumn and Quiksilver, and $160. Andre Beverly took 2nd and got a Reese Forbes Skate Mental deck along with a closet worth of gear from Quiksilver and Autumn. Finally, James got a bag of Autumn & Quiksilver T’s for taking 3rd.

The event got heavy when the “16 and up” guys dropped in. Heads from around the world showed up. The contest flowed with a mix of local rippers and out of town’ers. When it was all said and done, Raymond Macken claimed 1st place and the Dream Prize of a MacBookPro. Taji Amene Got 2nd and took home an iTouch. Yaje Popson got 3rd and an ishuffle.

For the Jam Session, anything was game for cash in hand and everybody put it on the line. If you blinked you were bummed cause it was a snake session. Here’s what we remember. Dillan James got $100 for a front blunt and front 5-0 on the extension. Tony did a staplegun for $20. Rob Campbell did a 360 flip to fakie for $20. Yaje Front 5/0 to fakie on the extension for $20.

Much love and respect goes to Dave Mims and his crew from Autumn, Billy Rohan and the Run My Game Family. Much Love to Jake Johnson, Tim O’Connor, David Clark, Kyle Leeper, Alex Olson and Reese Forbes for their creative vision and time in NYC. And… HUGE thanks to the NYC crew for their love & hospitality!

“Now What” art show pictures from 201 Mulberry in NY

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Wednesday night brought us the second of three events happening at 201 Mulberry – The “Now What” art how, curated by Alex Olson and Jack Greer.  The event kicked off at 6pm with doors open to the public.  Over 500 people showed up over the course of the party, with a 2000 square foot gallery space full of artwork being the focus of the evening. Displaying works were members of Greer’s Still House collective – Brendan Lynch, Louis Eisner, Isaac Brest, Alex Perweiler and other resourceful young New York artists like Evan Robarts, Tom Forkin and Patrick Griffin.  And of course, as has become evident since 201 Mulberry opened its doors, the ramp was packed with another epic session.  Good times flowed, and when the party shut its doors the vibes went out into the New York streets.
