All eyes are closely watching a developing swell for the third annual Quiksilver Ku Ikaika Challenge, presented by C4 Waterman to potentially run the event this weekend.  While tomorrow’s swell has officially been ruled a no-go, the following system may deliver contestable waves of 15-feet-plus this Sunday into Monday (wave face heights reaching 30 feet). Tomorrow’s swell is only expected to show around 12 feet at Makaha, accompanied by less-than-favorable winds. An update on the ensuing weekend swell will be issued as the system develops. The QUIKSILVER Ku Ikaika Big Wave Challenge waiting window started on January 15, 2010 and will continue until February 28, 2010.
With swells in the pacific active to date this winter, Quiksilver looks forward to the opportunity to run the stand up only competition that requires 15’ Hawaiian minimum surf.

FUEL TV to air the Quiksilver Pro France 2009 Thursday, December 24, at 8:00pm ET/PT, in SurfSpot and re-airing several more times over the next month.

The 2009 ASP World Tour stop number seven, the Quiksilver Pro France, pitted the world’s top pro surfers against each other in erratic surf conditions. ASP World number one and 2006 event winner Joel Parkinson will have a chance to win his inaugural ASP World Title in France while other top contenders will look to put a stop to his season. Bede Durbidge, C.J. Hobgood, Bobby Martinez, Kelly Slater, Michel Bourez, Tiago Pires, Mick Fanning, and others battle the chop looking for an ASP win.
