Quiky’s East Coast Helgie Squad caused a major stir at NSSA comp #4 in bouncy 3′-4′ chunky monkey Melbourne Beach surf. Mauro Diaz from San Juan P.R. was flaring up all over the shop and surfed three different divisions. His style and composure are well beyond his year’s leaves absolutely no doubt as to why he took the crown at this years King of the Groms. Tanner Strohmenger (14yr)hailing from south FL. has noticeably been filling into his frame surfing more man than boy brandishing a repertoire of solid power turns looked the every bit of the guy to beat this weekend. Both Mauro and Tanner won their divisions respectively, standouts of the day for sure! Another mentionable performance was had by super Vibe Grom Giorgio
Gomez showing with high placings as well. Tanner and Mauro will be venturing to the North Shore in the next few weeks to hang and wreak grommet havoc and likely take some grommet abuse at the Quiksilver Pipe house with the International Quiksilver Team while getting a little lesson in Pipeline 101 from Reef, Fuller, Healey and QS Pit Boss Strider Wasilewski.
